Zandvoort hosted the final three races in this year’s Formula Ford Eurocup. The race was a support race to the Formula 3 Masters event, with 46,000 spectators attending the circuit on Sunday.
Qualifying was a wet affair with again the dominant Scott Malvern heading the times. Bas Schouten was the lead Premier Power driver in sixth with other PP drivers, Dan de Zille in ninth, Michel Florie tenth and Matt Parry thirteenth.
Race 1 was won by Malvern, but Premier Power drivers made good progress. Geoff Uhrhane in the Premier Powered JTR Mygale made it up to fifth from seventeenth on the grid and also claimed the fastest lap. Bas Schouten and Michel Florie finished seventh and ninth in their Premier Powered, Provily Racing Mygale’s.
Race 2 was won by Malvern in very difficult conditions. Bas Schouten drove well to finish was third, Matt Parry in the Premier Powered Fluid Motorsport Developments Van Diemen made it up to fifth and Dan de Zille in the Premier Powered JTR Mygale finished sixth.
Race 3 was a best race of the weekend on what looked like a wet track but which started to dry as the race progressed. Local knowledge was the key to this one with Dutch team Provily Racing taking a gamble on car set up. Michel Florie said “we could have been heroes or zeros with that set up”. As the race progressed the three Provily drivers worked their way through the field with Joey Van Splunteren leading and the two Premier Powered cars of Florie and Schouten second and third. This is how the race finished with Florie claiming the outright fastest lap for the race and Matt Parry claiming fastest lap for the UK drivers.
The cars head back to the UK now for the last three rounds of the UK championship before the end of season Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch.
