Premier Power Caterham takes to the Road
Premier Powers’ F200 Sigma Caterham is now road legal having passed its IVA examination.
The car has several purposes as Stuart Cresswell explains.
The car is being used as a development car to evaluate our new and exciting product ranges. Whilst engine development is mainly carried out on the dyno, we now have the chance to sample engine drivability before signing off engines and calibrations.
The car allows us to make sure our products are compatible for our customers needs ensuring they pass things like emission and noise regulations. The car also allows us to optimise our products with regards to improved performance and installation techniques or solutions. The car is to be used as a marketing tool, we aim to attend a lot of the Caterham 7 owner club events as well as various track days throughout the year.
Premier Power has taken this route following a lot of success in European Formula Ford motorsport where the Sigma engine was used. The Sigma engine is a very under-rated engine say Stuart. “It’s very strong and lightweight and lends itself well to the lightweight sports car market”. Premier Power aims to offer a range of upgrade packages to clients where they can supply either the car or the engine to be converted. These upgrades will be readily available in August when initial development work will be completed.
